The Figure 02 is the second-generation humanoid robot from Figure AI, unveiled in August 2024. It is a roughly 1.68 m (5 ft 6 in) bipedal robot designed for industrial labor, and it is the Figure platform with genuine real-world deployment history — most notably an extended pilot at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. Figure 02 refines every element of the Figure 01 design: integrated cabling, a torso-mounted battery, custom motors, and fourth-generation dexterous hands.
Price Range
Figure 02 is not openly sold to the public. Figure AI has shipped units to enterprise customers (and reported its first paying customer), but it does not publish a retail price and does not take consumer pre-orders. The figures below are third-party estimates from robotics marketplaces and aggregators — useful as a rough order of magnitude, not as confirmed Figure AI pricing.
| Basis | Estimated figure |
|---|---|
| Aggregator / marketplace listing estimates | ~$130,000 – $150,000 (enterprise/lease-oriented) |
| Confirmed Figure AI list price | Not published |
| Consumer availability | None |
Treat any site advertising a firm "buy now" price for a Figure 02 with skepticism — these are estimates, not official channels.
Full Specifications
Reported specs vary slightly by source, particularly for weight and payload (some list ~60 kg / 20 kg, others ~70 kg / 25 kg). The table reflects the most frequently cited current values.

| Weight | ~70 kg (~155 lbs) |
| Degrees of freedom | ~35 total (full body) |
| Hand DOF | 16 per hand (4th-generation hands) |
| Frame / design | Integrated cabling within limbs; matte exterior |
Performance
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Walking speed | ~1.2 m/s |
| Payload (hands) | Up to ~20–25 kg |

| Compute | ~3× the onboard AI inference of Figure 01; dual GPU-class modules |
| AI system | Helix vision-language-action (VLA) model; onboard inference, no cloud required |
| Human interaction | Speech-to-speech via OpenAI-derived models / Helix |
Model Breakdown
Figure 02 is offered as a single industrial configuration rather than a tiered consumer/research lineup. Differentiation across the Figure range is generational: Figure 01 (prototype) → Figure 02 (industrial workhorse) → Figure 03 (positioned toward the home).
The BMW deployment
Figure 02's headline credential is its BMW Spartanburg pilot. Over roughly an 11-month program, units ran multi-hour shifts on five days a week, accumulating well over a thousand hours of runtime and handling tens of thousands of sheet-metal parts in short cycle times. It is one of the most concrete humanoid factory deployments to date.
Buyer's Guide: What to Know
This is an enterprise platform, not a consumer product. Figure 02 is sold through direct enterprise engagement, not a storefront. If you are not an industrial customer, there is no purchasing path.
Helix is the differentiator. Figure 02's value proposition leans heavily on its Helix VLA model, which controls the upper body for manipulation. Inference runs onboard, which matters for secure factory environments with no cloud dependency.
Specs are not perfectly fixed. Because Figure iterates quickly and does not publish a formal spec sheet, payload and weight figures differ between reputable sources. Verify directly with Figure AI before making procurement decisions.
The newer Figure 03 exists. If your interest is a home-oriented humanoid, note that Figure has since announced the Figure 03; Figure 02 remains the industrial-focused model.
Figure 02 vs Similar Robots
- Figure 02 vs Apptronik Apollo: Both are full-size industrial humanoids with real automaker pilots (BMW for Figure, Mercedes-Benz for Apollo). Apollo emphasizes force-controlled actuators and a modular base; Figure 02 emphasizes its Helix AI stack and OpenAI lineage.
- Figure 02 vs Tesla Optimus: Optimus targets a dramatically lower price at scale and camera-only sensing; Figure 02 is shipping to paying customers now while Optimus remains internal to Tesla.
- Figure 02 vs Boston Dynamics Atlas: Atlas (electric) has higher raw payload and an extreme range of motion; Figure 02 has a more mature commercial-deployment record and a published AI model in Helix.
